Dr. Kattakuzhy is an internal and addiction medicine physician-investigator with ten years of experience in clinical research, care, and education in the syndemic of addiction, HIV, and Hepatitis C. She began her career at the National Institutes of Health, evaluating the efficacy of novel therapeutics for Hepatitis C, before joining the IHV at UMSOM in 2014. She currently co-directs RIIS, leads a SAMHSA-funded grant for multidisciplinary addiction training, and is the principal investigator on several NIH-funded clinical trials aimed at innovating care and reducing harm for individuals with substance use disorders.

Dr. Keller is a neuroscientist whose research focuses on understanding how brain circuits are altered by drugs and by chronic pain, and on understanding the biological mechanisms that link addiction and pain. Knowledge from this research may lead to therapies for chronic pain and drug misuse conditions, and to identifying individuals at risk of developing these conditions. Dr. Keller is the Chairman of the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where groups of investigators lead research programs in addiction and motivated behaviors, pain and sensation, and aging and neurodegeneration. He is also an educator, helping train the next generation of neuroscientists.

Dr. Weintraub is a general and addiction psychiatrist with over thirty years of experience in clinical care and education whose recent focus has been on the treatment of individuals with opioid use disorder, injection drug use, and mental health co-morbidities. He has been in the forefront of developing innovative programs to increase access to care for individuals with substance use disorders in underserved areas throughout the state of Maryland utilizing a variety of telemedicine platforms. He is currently the Medical Director of the Maryland and District of Columbia Addiction Consultation Services which are access programs that provide support, consultation and education to community based physicians and mid-level providers.
